The Border Terrier originates from the borders of England and Scotland and was bred originally for hunting small game and ratting. It's origins can be dated back to the 1700's. The Border Terrier is also known by the other name of the Coquetdale terrier. This particular breed was adaptable and able to keep up with hunters on horseback. Its quarry was run to ground and the Border Terrier had the ability to squeeze into small places. The appearance of this dog is very distinctive and described as having the 'Head of an Otter'.
